History of The Lewis Group of Companies
The Lewis Group of Companies is derived from a family business started in 1958, by Ralph & Lillian Lewis, along with their son, Peter Lewis. Since that time the Lewis family has been literally "Building Neighborhoods since 1958".
Lewis Builders, Inc. has diversified over the years with affiliated companies being launched as the needs of the parent company grew.
From Lewis Builders, Inc., companies such as East Coast Lumber & Building Supply Company, Inc., ECL Rentals, Inc., Lewis Builders
Development, Inc., Lewis Equipment Company, Inc. and the Hampstead Area Water Company, Inc. were created.
In the 1990's, one of the company's most ambitious undertakings in land development originated with the construction of the
Atkinson Resort and Country Club. This facility presently consists
of an 18 hole championship golf course and a 75,000 s.f. clubhouse. The clubhouse offers many accommodations including the
Legacy Ballroom & Conference Center with the capacity to serve functions
of up to 1,000 people and (16) luxury hotel suites. Additionally, there is a full service restaurant known as the
Stagecoach Grille, along with
Merrill's Tavern a Sports Bar, and also the
Cartside Cafe. Currently the land surrounding the golf course is being designed
for a residential and commercial planned unit development that will be in keeping with the Lewis Standard of excellence.
